Friday Night K-12 Quads

Hello Everyone!

A quick informational announcement here for those who don't know about the Friday Night Rated Scholastic Quads that Chess4Life hosts at the Chess Center in Bellevue.

A quad tournament is a tournament in which four players are paired together depending on their ratings and play each of the others. 

It's a great way to get in some tournament practice against people of a similar skill level, so that you're neither not challenged nor overwhelmed.

These tournaments also allow children K-12 to play against each other, because it's a rating-based system, not an age-based one, and we've just added the allowance for parents of participating chess students to play in the quads!  That means that if your child is playing in the quads, you can register to play in them also!

Friday quads happen every friday without fail, so check http://www.chess4life.com and go to the tournaments page and sign up for the tournaments!

We'll be letting you know as soon as it's available for parents to play in the quads with their kids.

February 10th beginner's Tournament!

Hello Everyone!

Coming up on February 10th we have another Beginner's Tournament.  This will be our final beginner's tournament before state qualifiers and the state championship!

For students who have played in fewer than three tournaments, this is a phenomenal opportunity for students to learn tournament rules and get used to the tournament setting in a fun, friendly environment.

This tournament will be held at the Chess4Life Chess Center in Bellevue, and address and directions can be obtained from the link below.

State Championship and Qualifier Tournaments

Hello everyone!

Washington State Elementary Championships are only three months away!  This year, State is on April 21, happening down in Ridgefield, just outside of Vancouver.  This will be an awesome event, and we encourage you that if you or your children have never been to a State Championship tournament, go and check it out.  It's going to be an awesome experience, and all of the best elementary players in Washington will be there!

However, different from most other tournaments, a state tournament requires you to qualify each year, and Chess4Life will be supporting some tournaments in between now and state so that everyone will have a chance to qualify before state.

This is a great way to qualify for this year's state tournament, or, if you are already qualified, to get some challenging practice in before April.  The last date to qualify is April 7th!

Hello! 

Welcome to the New Chess4Life Blog, a consistently updated place for all the news going on in Chess in Washington State and beyond, as well as news and highlights of tournaments and special events hosted by Chess4Life!

Operated and updated by me, Lee Broxson, the new Public Relations Representative for Chess4Life,  I'll do my best to provide you with constant updates and information so that you don't get left in the dark, and this blog will be an awesome place to check.  I'll constantly keep it updated with a minimum update of once a week, and I would recommend even subscribing to it.
